The end of 2020 saw Cristiano Ronaldo set an impressive record for most Serie A goals scored in a year since 1961, at 33. Reaching the record set by one of the two greatest players to ever do it, yet it has to be stressed that Vlahovic did it for Fiorentina. Although Juve of last season wasn't impressive, Ronaldo's record was half-set in the title-winning year for the Old Lady under Maurizio Sarri. While Vlahovic played under three different managers in 2021, Cesare Prandelli, Guiseppe Iachini, and now Vincenzo Italiano.
Vlahovic now has one game remaining in 2021 to try and beat the record. Viola has a match against Verona coming up on the 22nd December, with the hosts on a bad slump of three defeats. Furthermore, Hellas Verona conceded 10 goals in the last four matches.
The striker is a target for many top European clubs with his contract expiring in 2023 and Viola forced to sell him in the next two transfer windows. As the 21-year-old refused their contract offers that would've made him the highest-paid Fiorentina player ever. With Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, both Manchester clubs, and Juventus interested, Vlahovic has plenty of options.
