Yesterday a pathetic offer, a million more and Villa got Sanson

Less than a week ago, Olympique Marseille's manager Andre Villas-Boas called Aston Villa's €18,000,000 offer for Morgan Sanson pathetic. The English club added just one million and the deal has been made according to both the French and the UK press.

Aston Villa is enjoying a far better start to the season than first expected and Dean Smith is looking to push his team onwards to a possible spot in the Europa League. The central-midfielder Morgan Sanson is the club's choice and the 26-year-old will be arriving at Villa Park.

The Premier League club will give €19,000,000 but with the base of €16,000,000 and up to €3,000,000 in bonuses. The French player will sign a four and a half year contract.

Sanson played for Marseille in 157 games, and scored 25 goals and made 22 assists, a good ratio for his position and the strength of the team. Prior, he played at Montpellier and showed equal attacking talent with 13 assists and 13 goals, in 106 matches.

Villa had a great transfer window in the summer picking up several players: Ross Barkley, Ollie Watkins, Bertrand Traore, Emiliano Martinez, and Matty Cash but a man was needed in the centre of the pitch.

The deal comes days after Arkadiusz Milik signed for OM from Napoli after being frozen out by the Italian club for refusing to extend his contract. Now, the club is also done with the services of the Greek striker Kostas Mitroglou who will terminate a bad spell in French football and return to his homeland and Aris Thessaloniki.

While Andre Villas-Boas has been dramatic in his recent team talks with the players, threatening a resignation as the team won one game of last eight, the board still backs him. The OM's executives remain clear that there is no doubt that AVB is their manager for the foreseeable future.
