Wolves reinforce with a Real Madrid player

The Wolverhampton Wanderers are building on their last season's success. The club has announced the signing of Real Madrid's Jesus Vallejo on a season-long loan.

Interestingly enough, the Wolves are presenting the young centre-back as the first new signing of the summer. Despite acquiring five other players. But with good reason. The big money signings Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker were both at loan at the Molineux Stadium before making the permanent switch this summer.

Although, in the loan deal for the 22-year-old Spanish defender, there isn't a potential fee clause. The young player is very much in Madrid's plans, most likely as the eventual successor of the 33-year-old Sergio Ramos.

This is Vallejo's second loan, as he spent the season 2015/2016 on loan at Zaragoza, in which he came up, and the following at Eintracht Frankfurt. But the young centre-back didn't feature much in Real for the past two seasons, making only 19 appearances across all competitions.

Wolves were proud to note that Vallejo has worn the captain's armband across multiple shirts, despite his young age. He captained Zaragoza in Segunda and was 10 times the captain of Spain's U21 team, with whom he won the European Under-21 Championship earlier this summer.

And the English club is close to the signing of another player from a different European giant. Milan's 21-year-old striking prospect Patrick Cutrone has left the team's pre-season and returned to Italy before his transfer to the Wolves gets finalized. A permanent one, that will earn the Italian club €20,000,000 plus another five in potential performance bonuses.

The young striker didn't want to leave his childhood club, but he was forced out by Milan's poor financial situation, and the amazing form of Krzysztof Piatek. Yet, his mood was visibly seen when filmed at an airport.

It is expected that the Wolves will announce the signing in the coming days.
