What crisis? Who's poor? Napoli splashes €80,000,000 on Osimhen!

1.8.2020.

Always seen as the poorest of the Italian big clubs, Napoli has issued a statement "early" this summer by capturing a club-record signing in Victor Osimhen. Italian club's president Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed that the complete value of the transfer will be around €80,000,000!

Most consistent reports state that Lille will earn €70,000,000 straight away and the rest 10 or 11 million depending on the player's performances. Reminding that Lille sold Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal last summer for €80,000,000 so if the bonuses for Osimhen's deal are 11 million that will make the Nigerian the most expensive African player ever.

Osimhen, 21, spent just one season in Ligue 1 as Lille bought him for €22,400,000 from Charleroi last summer. The forward had his start in Europe in 2017 when Wolfsburg acquired him, yet he failed to score for the German side at all.

Osimhen was solid in his loan to Charleroi which in turn earned him a permanent switch and then immediately a move up in rank and a route to Lille. In Ligue 1, which was cut short due to the pandemic, Osimhen scored 13 times in 27 matches.

Osimhen won the FIFA U17 World Cup with his Nigeria back in 2015.

Per De Laurentiis, Osimhen's earnings will be around €4,000,000 and €4,500,000 per season.

After the tremendous transfer, Napoli might be forced to sell and the popular ADL stated that Kalidou Kalibouli is a great person but can be bought for €90,000,000. But no one is offering it. Yet.

On the other end, Lille has already brought in Burak Yilmaz and the club is becoming a powerhouse in terms of sales as Osimhen's sale was preceded by the great sales of Pepe, Rafael Leao, and Eden Hazard.
