West Ham sign Spanish international Pablo Fornals

English Premiership strikes back! After several media houses announced Primera's victory in the battle of the leagues - because Hazard became yet another huge signing going from the Island to Spain - the English quickly reminded Europe how things stand on the transfer market. A mid-table club that is West Ham United announced the signing of one of the most coveted Spain's talents - Pablo Fornals.

The London team captured another high-profile signing, showing this year again that it means business, as Fornals is now the club's second-most-expensive signing in history behind Felipe Anderson. For the in-demand former Villareal man they had to pay around 27 million euros. The Spanish midfielder signed a five-year contract, with an option for extension for another year, which seems to be a very popular deal these days.

The 23-year-old has already recorded two caps for the jampacked senior national team of Spain, which speaks volumes of his reputation in his home country. But he will be representing his nation at the U21 European Championship finals this summer and has not yet met up with his new teammates due to it.

Fornals started his career in Villareal, before going to CD Castellon, and then to Malaga where he began his La Liga career. He returned home to Villareal in 2017. Despite his young age, he managed to gather 129 appearances in Spain's top division. While also being of great importance to the Yellow Submarines Europa League campaigns.

But after five goals and six assists in the previous season across all competitions, he is ready for a new challenge.
"I’m very happy to be part of West Ham. I feel very good, very happy and very grateful for the opportunity that has been provided to me. I want the Club to continue betting on young and ambitious people, people who want to do well for the long term", said Fornals for whufc.com

English football fans might like to point out at his following statement too, as the Spanish attacking midfielder particularly addressed football culture in Britain.
"I know about the loyal fans and the stadium, which is a beautiful stadium. The fans fill the stadium every weekend and that is something admirable, especially with the passion with which football is lived there. I think it is important to play with the support of your fans at home."

Fornals, who is capable of playing in almost all positions in midfield, does his best work behind the forwards. He might not be a familiar face to many English fans, but he is to West Ham's director of football Mario Husillos, who overseen the youngster progress while both of them were at Malaga. A time at which Fornals made his La Liga debut aged 19... against Real Madrid.

Husillos stated how satisfied everybody at the club is with this elite signing, not only because the Hammers now have a scary offensive side, but because he described Fornals as "not only a very good player but also a very good person with a good mentality."
