Unsatisfied Barca ready to sell Semedo

Just six months ago, Barcelona was rejecting €40,000,000 offers for Nelson Semedo as the right-back was deemed as untransferable. Semedo, who arrived at Nou Camp in 2017 from Benfica for €30,000,000 plus bonuses, has fallen out of grace in Catalonia and Barca's director of football Eric Abidal is ready to listen to offers for him.

While Semedo has been pretty standard this season with 15 La Liga appearances, 11 of which came in the starting line-up, but hasn't quite reached the level Barca warrants. While the 26-year-old is usually sound defensively, he offers little up front, which doesn't go well with Barca's traditional offensive style. And with having to fill in the shoes of the arguably best attacking right-back of the 21st century - Dani Alves, Semedo was always facing an uphill battle.

Paris Saint-Germain was deemed as interested in Semedo this summer and with Thomas Meunier the only viable option, with all respect to the young Colin Dagba, the Saints might be the primary candidate for Semedo. Especially as Meunier is more of an offensive player, and Semedo might be useful in Champions League clashes.

Sergi Roberto is the only current alternative to Semedo at Barca, but the 21-year-old Barcelona B right-back Moussa Wague is also seen as a backup option. But not the first one.

Eric Abidal will have to go on a search to find the adequate first-team right-back and not many options are seen as viable. All the best right-backs have been already picked up by major clubs, but there are still options.

Leicester City's Ricardo Perreira is in such a good form that he pushed Joao Cancelo out of Portugal's team, but the pacy offensive player won’t come cheap.

Semedo has gathered 13 caps for Portugal in a very competitive position and has played 101 games for Barca, scoring once.
