Romelu Lukaku will leave United in the summer

Romelu Lukaku was told he can leave Manchester United during the talks with the board on Wednesday.

Belgium striker returned from his holiday in the USA to speak over his future at the Old Trafford. United officials have made it clear they will allow him to leave Manchester but not less than €85 million they paid Everton two years ago.

Lukaku lost patience and is not willing anymore to be only a substitute. His agent Federico Pastorelli has made it clear his client would seriously consider a move.

Inter is labelled to be the first candidate for powerful striker's sign. The 26-year-old has been linked with the Serie A club and is reportedly willing to take a pay-cut in order to make a transfer to Inter Milan. Lukaku has three years left on a lucrative deal with United, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred Marcus Rashford in a central role of attack since he replaced Jose Mourinho in December. Norwegian manager has been already announced dressing-room cleaning in the summer.

If ex-Chelsea and Juventus boss Antonio Conte replace Luciano Spalleti at San Siro, Lukaku will be close to working again with his former boss. Juventus are also interested in the services of the striker and will join the race but Conte is in pole position to take him to Milano.

Lukaku scored 15 goals and four assists from total 45 appearances in all competitions during the two seasons at Old Trafford. He believes he is not part of Solskjaer's plans and last month he spoke of his wish to go to Italy, one of the reasons could be also his brother Jordan, who plays for Lazio. The Red Devils now been have offered the chance to get long-term target Ivan Persic, who might be included in the transfer package. The Croatian international was linked with United for a previous two seasons and the transfer exchange + €60 million in cash could be defined as a good business for both clubs.
