Returned after a year and a half, yet Everton's €25,000,000-paid player Gbamin is out injured again!

No player has had a similar harsh time with injuries in recent memory than Everton's Jean-Philippe Gbamin. The defensive midfielder arrived at Goodison in the summer of 2019 from Mainz with a big fee of €25,000,000. But the 25-year-old managed to play in only three games for the Toffees, getting 146 minutes of football in due to two heavy injuries.

Firstly, upon arriving, the defensive midfielder suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out of for around 229 days, or 32 games. Then, quickly upon returning to training, he suffered an Achilles tendon rupture in late May 2020. Even with the pause in the championships and the tumbled seasons he missed 46 games, sitting out 309 days.

Before returning to action on the April 5th match against Crystal Palace and getting 11 minutes in.

Yet, the Cote d'Ivoire player suffered another major injury in training and is once again out for the season! Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the player's status as his knee was injured in a training ground clash with Lucas Digne.

"Listen, we are really, really sad because he was training well, showing good quality and was happy. He's going to have a scan. I don't know how long but for sure the season for him is finished but he's a really strong guy and I hope he can recover soon and play. Digne fell down on his knee unfortunately and I think Gbamin has a medial ligament problem," explained Ancelotti.

The player has a contract until 2024 and is set to make a return come August, by that time, he will be out for almost 700 days at Everton.

Ancelotti also confirmed Yerry Mina is set to miss the next few weeks with an adductor muscle injury while the squad is also without Abdoulaye Doucoure, Fabian Delph, and Bernard due to injuries.
