Real Madrid ease past Eibar at the Alfredo di Stefano stadium

Real Madrid triumphed against Eibar 3-1 at the training stadium Alfredo di Stefano since Santiago Bernabeu is closed due to the re-construction works.

A perfect return to La Liga action of Zinedine Zidane's side that continues title hunt in a race with Barcelona.

Real Madrid is now two points behind their arch-rivals, and Barca will play their match on Tuesday against Leganes.

German midfielder Toni Kross has produced the ideal start for Los Blancos, calmly slotting into the top corner from the 16 meters to open the visitors.

A dominant performance in the first half was crowned with three goals. Defenders Sergio Ramos and Marcelo found the back of the net in 30th and 37th minute.

Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had not been occupied in the first half, but he was busy in the next 45 minutes, making a pair of saves, including on a well-hit shot from Edu Exposito.

The changes made by both teams had allowed visitors to take charge of the game, so Zidane countered by bringing in Fede Valverde for Luka Modric in the last 10 minutes of the match to make sure there would be no late tensions.

In the end, it proved enough for the hosts, who now move their focus to Thursday's fixture versus Valencia.

In the other Sunday's games, Atheltic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid shared a point in San Sebastian with a below-par performance of Cholo Simeone's squad.

Atletico is now winless in the last three games, while Atheltic Bilbao sits 10th without relegation worries.

Real Sociedad didn't deliver a good result in a race for Champions League places since they drew with Osasuna at home.
