Nemanja Matic extends his stay in Manchester

Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic has extended his contract with Manchester United for another two years.

Matic is 31 years old and still has something to show as he is one of the most important United players this season.

He joined from Chelsea in 2017 and had his current deal running until June 2021.

"As a player, I still have a lot more to give and achieve in my career and to do that with Manchester United will be a huge honour,"
Matic said.

"This is a really exciting team to be part of, we have a good balance of youth and experience within the squad."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was delighted to see Matic signing another deal as he can count on Matic's good impact on younger players.

"I know his experience, professionalism, and leadership will be invaluable to this young talented group."

"Nemanja has been here for three seasons now and really understands the values of playing for Manchester United."

Matic has played 27 times in all competitions for the club this season. Solskjaer's side doesn't know the taste of loss since January - a run of 16 games in all competitions - and sit fifth in the Premier League table.

Serbian has started his career in Red Star Belgrade while Chelsea's scouting team spot the talent when he was playing in Slovakian side Kosice.

Matic spent a season in Vitesse on loan and later signed for Benfica in a deal worth 5 mil euros.

Since the player exploded in Portuguese Primeira, Chelsea decided to swallow the own mistake and re-bought Matic from Benfica, but for 25m euros.

Finally, he ends up in United with Jose Mourinho and is still counting his days with Red Devils.
