Mourinho: Tottenham is not going to be my only club without silverware
10.3.2020.
Despite losing yet another player and only winter signing Steven Bergwijn to a season-ending injury, Jose Mourinho is still pretty confident in his Tottenham campaign. The charismatic Portuguese tactician is certain that he will win silverware with the Spurs like he did with all of his clubs. Despite the rocky start.
Spurs last won a trophy in 2008 when the manager was Juande Ramos and Dimitar Berbatov and Jonathan Woodgate scored against Chelsea in the League Cup final.
While the last five years of Mauricio Pochettino's rule are regarded as the best in the club's recent history due to the constant Champions League participation, the Argentinian hasn't won anything.
The Special One believes he will.
"I believe Tottenham is not going to be my only club without silverware. I won it at every club and I believe I am going to do it also with Tottenham. I have been here for three or four months. I get the team in very difficult situation and now even more difficult with so many problems we're having but I believe in me, in the players, in the club and I believe that during my contract I am going to help the club to do it. It's not me winning, it's me helping the club and the players to do it," said Mourinho.
A serial winner, Mourinho is set on doing so but the only competition they have a theoretical chance of doing so is the Champions League. But because of injuries it would be very hard to even go past RB Leipzig, yet Mourinho wouldn't be happy with just that.
"The achievements that stay forever are the victories. That is my feeling. Of course, would be amazing in these circumstances to do it but when you lose a final you throw the medal away and forget. I never consider less than winning is a big achievement. My big achievement in this competition is when we won it."
Mourinho recently strongly criticized club's record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
