Monaco spends €10,000,000 on a Serbian centre-back wonderkid

Probably no club can proud itself on making more of a profit on buy, improving, and then selling young players in recent years than Monaco. Kylian Mbappe, Anthony Martial, Thomas Lemar, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, Youri Tielemans and others have all been bought for way less than they've brought to the club. Now, the French side has splashed €10,000,000 for an 18-year-old centre-back from Serbia - Strahinja Pavlovic.

The club in which he came through, Partizan Belgrade, can also earn another €3,000,000 through bonuses. If Pavlovic plays more than 20 games the Serbian club will earn extra €2,000,000 and Monaco will have to send an additional €1,000,000 if they qualify for Europe this season.

Pavlovic has signed a five and a half year contract but will spend the remainder of this season back on loan at Partizan.

The youngster made his debut for the first team of Partizan this year in February, since then he played 45 professional matches, six of them in Europa League where he battled against Manchester United.

The 193-centimetres tall Serbian was very near Lazio this summer but the Italian club withdrawn for medical reasons. The player's heart was at question but Monaco's decision to buy him now puts a shroud of mystery on Lazio's backing off. Dismissed in Serbia as a negotiating tactic by the Rome club.

This is the third-highest sale in the history of Partizan, but could be second eventually, as Stefan Savic's move to Manchester United earned the club €12,000,000. Mateja Kezman to PSV back in 2000 is still the club's biggest sale at €14,000,000.

Pavlovic has been sold for twice the money Fiorentina regular Nikola Milenkovic has been sold two years ago at the age of 19 - €5,100,000.

Another Partizan product will await Pavlovic at Monaco - Stevan Jovetic.
