Messi and Suarez are ready for Mallorca

South American Barca's duo - Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are set to star for Barcelona as La Liga returns to action with a game at Mallorca.

The league's break following the coronavirus has given 33-years-old Suarez time to recover after the Uruguayan striker underwent operation on his right knee in the winter.

Messi had a thigh difficulty but the 32-years-old Argentine forward returned to training this week as Barca prepare for their first game in three months.

"He's doing perfectly and will not have any problem," said manager Quique Setien.

About Suarez, manager said: "He is better than we expected. But the question is how ready he is after so long out and whether he is ready to start."

French defender Samuel Umtiti is now fit to appear but his compatriot defender Clement Lenglet is suspended. A young Uruguayan Ronald Araujo, could make his second appearance in Barca best 11's shirt.

Real Madrid replaced Barcelona at the top of the standings when they beat them 2-0 at the Bernabeu on March 1.

But Barca retrieved top spot on six days later with Messi's 19th league goal of the season - which gave them a 1-0 home win over Real Sociedad - while Madrid lost 2-1 at Real Betis the next day to quit the leading place.

Barca are two points clear with eleven rounds left in Primera Division, which reopened yesterday with a local derby of Sevilla - Sevilla won 2-0 against  Betis.

Hosts Mallorca are 17th placed after winning 2-1 at Eibar, in their last game before the forced break.
