FA Cup: Arsenal in the final after beating Citizens

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta triumphed against his mentor Pep Guardiola following the 2-0 victory to give Gunners the FA Cup final at Wembley.

London team will now face either Chelsea or Manchester United in the final on August 1.

Arteta left his assistant manager post to succeed Unai Emery at Arsenal in December and has earned a chance to mark his first campaign in charge with major silverware.

Gabonese world-class striker Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang was the match-winner with two goals in an brilliant individual performance.

There was no escape for Citizens in the 19th minute when Aubamayeang delivered goal with the outside of his foot after Nicolas Pepe cross.

City were dominant in the match possession but wasted their chances. Auba made them pay once again for missed opportunities in the 71st minute for a final, 2-0 result.

It was another good performance for Gunners after winning over Liverpool, their fans are finally looking enthusiastic, even before the season is ended. As against Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, Arsenal were well organized in all segments of the game.

"We've had an incredible week to beat the best two teams in Europe, it doesn't happen every day.

"I don't care who plays, I can trust them - we made changes and everyone was ready.

"We had to suffer in many moments. We had to be really well-organised and minimize the spaces."

Guardiola was honest after the game and said he regrets his team didn't show a similar level of performance in both halves.

We didn't make a good performance, we were not ready enough. If you don't play for 90 minutes in a semi-final this can happen. We didn't play good, we are human beings. The opponent played good, sometimes it happens.

Both teams return to league action as Man City visit Watford on Tuesday, before Arsenal travel to Aston Villa on the same day.
