Dortmund sign wonderkid Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City

Talented youngster Jude Bellingham moves to Borussia Dortmund for 30.000.000 euros from Championship side Birmingham.

Bellingham is one of the top prospects when it comes to midfielders in European football. With weeks of the young central midfielder being linked to some of the top names in Europe including Manchester United, in the end, it was Dortmund who managed to strike the deal.

It seems to be the best option for the youngster with Dortmund having a good record of signing and improving wonderkids with Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Giovanni Reyna already having seen an upturn in their ability at BVB.

Bellingham’s breakout season started when he became Birmingham City’s youngest ever player at 16 years and 38 days against Portsmouth in the EFL Cup.

Throughout the Championship season he made 40 appearances becoming the main stake in Pep Clotet’s midfield. He has assisted three and scored four goals, all of which have come in the league.

He has also proved his versatility during his time at Birmingham playing mostly in the center of midfield but also featuring on both flanks and in a slightly more attaching number ten role.

"I'm incredibly excited to have joined one of Europe's biggest clubs," said the England Under-17 international.

"The direction they are heading in and how much they help to improve young players made it an easy decision for myself and my family."

"I can't thank Birmingham City enough for what they have done for me, not just this past year but since the age of seven. Once a blue always a blue"

This transfer promises to be good both for player and for future club's finances but also for their exciting, youthful squad.
