Despite the worst start in 43 years Roma sticks with Mourinho and gives him a reinforcement

Jose Mourinho enjoyed a great start to his AS Roma career yet the ship has fully turned around and despite being level on points with the sixth-placed Fiorentina, the team is in a historic mess. After 21 games the Giallorossi have nine defeats, which is the worst start of the club in 43 years!

Yet Jose Mourinho still has the backing of the owners, the American Friedkin group. The club's directors are still set on the Special One and it certainly helps to have the compatriot general manager in Tiago Pinto.

The Portuguese director secured another signing for Mourinho this winter, after Ainsley Maitland-Niles who has joined Roma on loan until the end of the season from Arsenal.

Porto midfielder Sergio Oliveira has just arrived in Rome ahead of his medical with the Giallorossi. The 29-year-old moves to the Stadio Olimpico on a €1,000,000 loan deal with an option to buy for €13,000,000. He has played 24 games across all competitions with Porto this season, scoring five goals.

The tally of 32 points with only 10 wins and an embarrassing loss against Juventus from a winning position made Mourinho slam his players for their mentalities.

There are still rumours that Mourinho is trying to convince Tanguy Ndombele to accept a move to the Italian capital. The Spurs midfielder is unhappy in north London and even though he and Mourinho had a rocky start, they've patched their relationship toward's Mourinho's end at THFC.

Mourinho is also close to having the former Roma manager Rudi Garcia back in the league as competition with Genoa looking to quickly fire Andriy Shevchenko after two months.
