Close to Inter for a year, Olivier Giroud is set to end up in Milan

During the last summer, and especially in the winter, reports of Inter's interest in Olivier Giroud have circulated on a daily basis. The Frenchman was quite close to the move into Antonio Conte's side as he provides a more technical and flairy alternative to Romelu Lukaku as a target man. Now, the Chelsea forward is set to join their city rivals.

The 34-year-old will have his contract with the Blues expire at the end of the month and his tally will stop at 119 games, 39 goals, and 14 assists for the club. At Milan, he is bound to be a replacement to Mario Mandzukic as the replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, since the Croatian faced injury problems.

Giroud's minute to goal involvement ratio is far better than his basic stats might imply, as he he was often the substitute in. The Frenchman made a direct help to Chelsea's goals every 107 minutes. The agreement with Milan will be set this week with Giroud signing a two-year deal bringing him €4,000,000 per season after tax.

Chelsea are also ready to listen to offers for Tammy Abraham and the left-back Emerson Palmieri. Reports from England and Italy state that they have already agreed the sale of Fikayo Tomori, as the defender did well on his loan at San Siro. The loan deal came with the €28,000,000 optional fee and the Milanese have triggered it after he played 22 games for the club.

Milan will also go for Udinese and Argentina midfielder Rodrigo de Paul with the Rossoneri offering €20,000,000 plus the defender Matteo Gabbia. Although Atletico Madrid is also in the running, the Udine club owners prefer the league competitor's offer.
