City to continue Aguero's legacy by signing a major Argentinian with nearly 40 goal involvements in a season

Manchester City has left a big void in the squad by not replacing arguably the club's biggest legend Sergio Aguero this summer. Even though the results don't show it. But the recruitment team has prepared a massive coup for the Etihad faithful as City is on the verge of signing an in-demand attacking talent from Argentina.

The big task of continuing the Argentinian legacy in the blue side of Manchester will be handed over to Julian Alvarez, now at River Plate.

As the 21-year-old has been interesting to many clubs across Europe, including Napoli, Milan, Inter, Juventus, Atalanta, Aston Villa, and Bayer Leverkusen. Yet he waited for his chance to secure a move to the most consistent side, playing in the Champions League.

Now City will pay the release clause of the Argentinian youngster - €25,000,000. Yet River will hold on to the player until the summer and Alvarez will be joining the City squad ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

However, Alvarez is well worth the wait. In his last season, he recorded 39 goal involvements in 46 games for River! Scoring 24 goals and making 15 assists playing across all sides of the front-line. His overall record for the Argentinian giants is also impressive with 61 goal involvements in 96 games! That is 36 goals scored and 25 assists made!

While also winning everything that can be won with his childhood club - Argentinian league in 2021, then Copa Libertadores, Recopa Superamericana (the continental Supercup), and the Argentinian Cup. Oh, and he also won the Copa America with Argentina in 2021.

The senior Argentina national team member turns 22 on January 31 and has long been awaited in Europe after his agent travelled to London and Madrid for talks with a number of clubs.
