Chelsea in FA Cup semifinals after beating Leicester

Chelsea's Ross Barkley entered the pitch in the second half to send Blues into the FA Cup semifinals as the Foxes are left to mull their slump.

Frank Lampard's side is looking very compact recently as they made their fifth win in a row, in all competitions.

Leicester couldn't live with Blues once the substitutes were made - Brandan Rodger's side is in need of a transformation themselves.

This defeat prolonged their poor run in terms of results and goals, which might cost them a place in the Champions League.

"We haven't been able to take those opportunities. We switch off for one second and they get the goal. I feel for the players because they deserved more,"
Brendan Rodgers said to BBC Sport.

Lampard and his boys meanwhile showed another good game and an attitude of how do you take the offered chances and convert them into the net.

Barkley showed to be once again Chelsea's FA Cup talisman, netting the winner and almost adding a second in the last minute, forcing an top save from Leicester goalkeeper.

It also demonstrated Chelsea's squad strength as Lampard was able to introduce such experience and ability.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, speaking to the UK media: "The result was satisfying and getting to the semis was satisfying. "

"We weren't our usual selves - we were below what we usually produce - but I'm happy with the result. We won and must learn from some of the mistakes. "

"I don't want to sound too down. You have to show grit to win when you don't play well. We go on to the next one. We can park the cup and focus on getting the league wins to be in the Champions League."

Lampard and Chelsea have had a wonderful re-start, winning at Aston Villa and getting a vital three points at home to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Those good results kept them in the right direction for a top-four finish and now they are in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against Manchester United.
