Borussia confirms the transfer of Abdou Diallo

Borussia Dortmund has been one of the most active - and successful at that - clubs on this summer's transfer market. But after four major incoming transfers, the club will record an important outgoing transfer. Abdou Diallo will join Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth €32,000,000!

The German club isn't in dire need to earn money, despite spending over €100,000,000 on Mats Hummels, Thorgan Hazard, Julian Brand, and Nico Schulz. BVB's sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed that the 23-year-old wanted to leave and that the club decided to allow him as the financially it was a good deal.

"This has turned out so. Abdou has decided that he would like to take on another challenge and for us, it has been economically viable. That's why we agreed to the change," said Zorc.

Diallo joined BVB from Mainz just last summer for €28,000,000, so the club from Westfalen stadium won't make a huge profit.

It could be that the arrival of Matts Hummels signalled to Diallo that he would probably have to wait for his opportunities in the first team. Perhaps the return to France was too enticing, or the surely increased financial offer PSG put on the table. Or the combination.

Diallo already spoke about PSG's interest in May, enticing the French champions to come and get him.

"It is a form of recognition of my achievement to hear this. But without resorting to the worn-out phrases of footballers, I have a contract. But a young player in Europe who tells you that PSG's project is not interesting is not honest. It's a nice project," said Diallo to L'Equipe in May.

Dortmund doesn't have to buy a replacement for Diallo, as they already have Hummels, Manuel Akanji, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Leonardo Balerdi, and Omer Toprak who are all centre-backs.

This is PSG's third major signing after Ander Herrera and Pablo Sarabia.
