Benfica's Pizzi believes his teammate Darwin Nunez is a perfect fit for Atletico

Benfica has one of the biggest striker prospects in the world right now in the form of Darwin Nunez. The Eagles have broken their signing record to get the young Uruguayan last summer for €24,000,000 and the 22-year-old has 36 goal involvements in 58 matches since, playing perhaps for the least-impressive Benfica side of the previous decade. His teammate Pizzi Fernandes spoke about the young colleague on a podcast and already has a future club picked up for him.

The 32-year-old attacking midfielder holds the youngster in high-regard and reckons his former club of Atletico Madrid would be the best spot for him to continue his career.

"He is very young, with a lot of quality and very fast, he is a player to be reckoned with in the best teams in the world, but now he has to be focused on Benfica. A team he could fit in could be the Atletico Madrid," stated Pizzi.

It's hard arguing with Pizzi as the energy Darwin produces on the pitch is cut from the same cloth Diego Simeone has when engaging in a match. It's enough to see the young Uruguayan celebrate his goals to realize just how much the sport means to him. While he has all the physicality and commitment Cholo requires of his players.

This summer, Atletico tried to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina and the Serbian seems like a perfect fit for a team requiring a high-pressing forward who can hold the ball up for a team that is lined up deep. Nunez is not that shorter, at 187 and could be a cheaper alternative now that the English clubs have joined the hunt for the Serbian.

Furthermore, Nunez could continue the great line of Uruguayan strikers at Atletico after Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez. And Uruguyans in general with Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez being vital for Cholo.
