Bayern and Lewandowski in a ruthless mode against Dusseldorf

Bayern Munich thrashed Fortuna Dusseldorf 5-0 at Allianz Arena with two goals of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski equaled his most prolific season as the Bavarian team won their eighth successive match in Bundesliga.

Hosts were 3-0 up after 45 minutes with the Mathias Jorgensen's own goal opened the game. Frenchman Benjamin Pavard and Lewandowski added two more before the half time.

Polish star has a wonderful season with Bavarians as he made his 43rd goal in all competitions to make a 4-0 result in 50'.

Canadian wonderkid Alphonso Davies completed the job with minutes later, scoring the final, fifth goal after a fantastic individual effort.

The previous direct clash in midweek against Dortmund helped Bavarians to make a step closer to an eighth successive title, while yesterday's game just confirmed the expectations and predictions after the derby.

Huge 10 points now separate Dortmund and Bayern. However, Black and Yellows will cut the gap if they win versus bottom-placed Paderborn on Sunday.

Bayern looks ruthless as ever, with 13 goals scored and two conceded in the last four since the league resumed from coronabreak.

Fortuna Dusseldorf is now proceeding to the next matches in their relegation battle, with the next fixture to be played against Europa League contenders Hoffenheim.

Schalke 04 continued with poor performances as they lost once again, this time against 17th placed Werder Bremen. It's is their fourth consecutive loss in Bundesliga - Royal Blues lost all the games since league's retrieval.

Eintracht Frankfurt managed to triumph 2-1 against Wolfsburg on the road. With three points, Eitntracht's fans can be peaceful about relegation concerns as their team leaped off to five points gap with the first team in the red zone.

Mainz struggles in form and they are now just one point above 16th placed Dusseldorf. Hoffenheim was lucky to escape their stadium by minimal victory.

With five matchdays left to play in Bundesliga, the champion is already 'known' but the interest is big in European places battle, the same as it's amongst the teams that fight for survival in the top German tier.
