Barca close to finalizing Depay for favourable terms

After finishing their most important piece of business... ever, the stay of Leo Messi, Barcelona has turned to much needed incoming transfers. While Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez are just days away from moving on with no or symbolic fees, and Ivan Rakitic has already left, Memphis Depay is coming the other way. To make things slightly better, for a far smaller fee than his skillset deserves.

Recently, Depay notified the public that a departure from Olympique Lyon is on the cards after three years in France and earning the captain's armband. What proved as crucial is the country's decision to cancel the last season as Lyon was left without European football despite reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

The 26-year-old Dutch winger talked about a potential move and now it has been concretized. While it was talked about even when Messi was at the exit door, the story has become more solid and we even have the transfer fee that has been arranged - €25,000,000.

A major coup for Barca if true as Lyon has become known for astronomical sales in the last couple of seasons, just look at Tanguy Ndombele and Ferland Mendy. All while Depay has worn the captain's armband and played in 139 games for the club, scoring 57 times and assisting 43 goals. That's a goal involvement every 102 minutes.

To make matters even better, Blaugrana will finance the majority of the deal with its backup player. Barca is set to sell their youth product Rafinha, the brother of Thiago Alcantara, who was always highly regarded but failed to get even a 100 matches in a Barca shirt despite debuting in 2011. His move will stand at €15,000,000 as Leeds United stand as the prime favourites to get him.

Ronald Koeman will play Antoine Griezmann in a more forward position but the wings department is going to be strong as Philippe Coutinho has returned from his Bayern Munich loan. With Messi, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, and newcomer Trincao, Depay will have his competition cut out for him.
