Arsenal beat Liverpool and stop champions in achieving the new record

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will not set a new Premier League points record as they suffered their third defeat of a season at Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp's men will receive the trophy after the match versus Chelsea at home next week but they could be a bit disappointed not to achieve 100+ points and set a new record of the league.

However, they looked on course when Senegalese Sadio Mane gave his team a deserved lead in the 20th minute. But then, they allowed Arsenal too much space, with uncharacteristic errors of the usually most stable performers.

Alexandre Lacazette took advantage of a wrong pass by Virgil van Dijk to level the game before LFC goalkeeper Alisson made a poor clearance to give Reiss Nelson easy realization in front of the goal.

Gunners showed a real fight and determination to grab the victory here and they did. It's a proper morale boost before the upcoming FA Cup semi-final versus Manchester City at Wembley.

Klopp said his team deserved defeat, thus this could not be said looking on match statistics, as Reds dominated in shots and possession category.

"We have to learn from it, 100 per cent. We've had sloppy moments before and not been punished for it but this is good because we have to learn from it."

"Credit to Arsenal for being there and using it,"
Klopp said.

"I can't make something negative from something so positive, we get the points we deserve and we will see how many that will be. These boys played an exceptional season, nobody can take that away from them."

Liverpool have a full week to recover and rest before their next league fixture, against Chelsea on Wednesday.
