Another major exit at Newcastle: Ayoze Perez joins Leicester

Another major departure from Newcastle after the long-term manager Rafa Benitez has left the club. Now, one of the players that have been at the club the longest in recent years has also left St. James' Park - Ayoze Perez.

The Spaniard has completed a move becoming the Leicester's most expensive signing in history. His transfer earned Magpies €33,400,000, which is three million more than what the Foxes paid for Islam Slimani in 2016.

Perez played 195 games for Newcastle after arriving in north-east England for less than two million euros, scoring 48 goals and being one of the few constants in the team's unstable recent years. He started his career at Tenerife, the only other club he ever played as a pro. Leicester's manager Brandan Rodgers is quite satisfied with the addition.

"Ayoze will be a wonderful addition to the squad. He's a player who will excite our fans. He's quick, has a good eye for goal and he's experienced in the Premier League too," said the tactician.

He is Brendan Rodgers' second signing of the summer, after the arrival of defender James Justin from Luton Town.

Perez scored the winning goal on each of his previous two visits to King Power Stadium, so it's not surprising that he is held in high regard at Leicester. Perez also won Newcastle's Goal of the Season award three times during his five years at St. James' Park. It's not a good summer to be a Newcastle fan. They lost two fan-favourites, the coach and the star player.

The 25-year-old versatile forward does come with bags of experience and will certainly offer different options alongside Jamie Vardy. He is happy to begin the new chapter in his career.

“I’m very happy and very pleased. I’m very proud to be part of the Leicester family and I can’t wait to get started," said Perez for

A signing that should improve The Foxes.
