Szczesny to extend his contract with Juve and get a significant wage hike

Regarded as a failure at Arsenal, sold for just €12,000,000 in 2017 after spending the season on loan at Roma as veteran Petr Cech arrived at the Emirates. Few would've guessed that Wojciech Szczesny would become one of Juventus' most important pieces as the Polish goalkeeper is set to extend his contract with the Turin club.

Italian media reports that Szczesny is set for a massive wage hike that will make him one of Serie A's top 10 earners. According to information from Italy, Szczesny will earn €7,000,000 per season plus bonuses, after-tax.

Cristiano Ronaldo is by far the league's top earner with €30,000,000 per year. He, Matthijs De Ligt, Gonzalo Higuain, And Paulo Dybala will only earn more at Allianz Stadium than Szczesny. But only Romelu Lukaku will earn more than the Pole out of all players who aren't on Juve's payroll.

Szczesny played in 10 of Juve's Serie A games this season, recording four clean sheets and conceding 10 goals out 17 total the Old Lady has allowed to go past her. Gianluigi Buffon is seeking that most capped Serie A player of all-time record and has already played in seven league games this year.

Even though the 29-year-old is sharing playing time with the colleague that is in his fifth decade of living, the contract extension is a clear indication of Juve's board to the faith they have in the Pole.

For the longest time, Gianluigi Donnarumma was regarded as the clear successor for his legendary namesake, but the Old Lady doesn't want to deal with his agent Mino Raiola.

Compared to the world's highest-paid goalkeeper David De Gea, who earns €21,000,000 yearly at Manchester United, Sczesny's salary isn't awe-worthy. But it's a clear signal to how far he has come since being regarded as an "Arsenal-level" keeper.
