Watford - Sheffield

Asian Handicap
Pick: Watford (-0.75)
Odds: 1.7

Match date: 02/04/2021

Very important match for both teams pursuing their objectives, Watford for direct promotion and Sheffield for survival.

Watford have been in superb form lately dismantling every team that steps in their way and a win today will surely boost the Hornets promotion ambitions. Watford currently in second place six points ahead of third place Swansea and will look to continue their impressive winning streak to six matches and they have won nine of their last 10 matches.

Watford's promotion fate is very much in their own hands because in the remaining 8 matches they will have a tough schedule and will face six teams in top 10, including matches against Reading and Swansea in last day. So achieving a win today against an “easy” opponent is very important for Watford although they sit six points from third Swansea at the moment.

On the other hand we have Sheffield Wednesday who are penultimate in the table and six points from the last safe spot. Surely in the remaining 8 matches they will give everything to maintain their Championship place, but today they have a very hard task against maybe the best team in the league at the moment.

Sheffield seemed like a heavy favorite to relegate but their last surprising win against high flying Barnsley gave every Wednesday’s fan hope for a survival because now they are just six points behind 21st-placed Birmingham.

So not much to say for this match except that Watford are in great form and with the international break both teams rested their players. I expect Watford to continue their good form and register another important win in their way for direct promotion. Sheffield still seems too weak to face in form Watford at Vicarage Road.

So anything but a win for the hosts will be a huge surprise.
