First Division

UCD have started really well and look to be serious challengers for the First Division title along with Shelbourne. The most impressive thing about UCD is their attacking talent. They've already scored 21 goals from their first 7 games, nearly twice as many as anyone else, and this is largely down to Colm Whelan, who is easily the league's top scorer with 8 goals so far from 7 appearances. I imagine he'll play in this game, hard to find any team news though. Their website won't load properly on my 20 year old laptop.

Let's give Whelan his own paragraph. This is his 2nd season at UCD and last season he scored 15 goals from his 19 appearances. The 20 year old seems destined for the Premier Division at some point and if he succeeds there he may end up in the EFL, probably at Preston like most of the decent League of Ireland players do.

I've backed against Cork a few times this season and i'm happy to do it again. They are obviously not the side of a few years ago when they were winning trophies, and looking at their team, they have nothing that excites me. Not like Colm Whelan does anyway! So far, they have struggled, but they did beat Wexford 5-0 in their last match. That looks like a good result until you realise that Wexford are terrible. They've lost all 7 matches and only scored 2 goals. UCD beat them 6-0 on the road.

These odds seem generous on UCD, unless the bookies know something i don't. But when i don't really know much myself, that's a possibility. But still, i think a Cork win would surprise everyone so i'd advise covering the draw a little, just in case. Cork don't really have a goal scorer so i just think UCD will out score them.

I'd imagine the odds on a UCD win will drop before kick-off, unless Colm Whelan isn't playing.
