Very important match for both teams tonight at County Ground where Swindon hosts Portsmouth. Hosts in very difficult situation siting in last place practically relegated. Given their current form (eight defeats from last ten matches) and the gap of seven points from last safe place with 4 matches remaining it seems that everything is clear for Swindon. They will be playing in League Two next season.

On the other hand for Portsmouth this will be a good chance to bounce back from their defeat in the weekend to MK Dons.  Portsmouth are still very much in the running to attain a play-off spot this season and will be hoping that they can go on a much needed run of form between now and the end of the campaign to achieve their objective. Currently they are level on points with sixth place Oxford United and with a game in hand on their rivals.

After a poor run since the beginning of the year, Portsmouth changed their manager and since Danny Cowley’s appointment, Portsmouth has won four of the seven games he's been in charge of. They won the first four matches but now are facing a little crisis as they have not won in their last three with defeats against Burton and MK Dons and a draw at Crewe.

Today’s match is a great opportunity for Pompey’s to return to winning ways because not only Swindon is in really poor form, but they have a long list of injured players going into this match. Biggest problems are in the back as experienced right-back Paul Caddis is out with a hamstring injury, joining centre-backs Mathieu Baudry and Akinwale Odimayo on the sidelines – although the former is back in training but not ready for tonight. Dion Conroy is already out for the season for an unspecified issue, while left-back Rob Hunt is also unavailable despite returning to training during the week. Forward Ellis Iandolo is also out for the remainder of the campaign with a hamstring complaint, along with Zeki Fryers.

Portsmouth on the other hand will miss Jack Whatmough who starts the first of his four-match ban following his red card last time out. Ben Close is set to miss the trip to Swindon due to an injury last time out while Andy Cannon is not yet fully-fit.

So to sum up there is no more space for mistakes for Pompeys if they want the playoffs and tonight is a great opportunity to return to winning ways facing a depleted and totally out of form opponent.
