Serbia and Portugal are playing Group A derby match tonight (8.45 pm CET) in the World Cup qualifiers for Qatar 2022. In the opening matches of the qualifiers three days ago, Serbia beat Ireland 3:2, while Portugal was better against Azerbaijan with a minimal result 1:0. This is a very important match, because directly affects the first place and direct placement in the World Cup.

Serbia started in this qualifiers with new coach Dragan Stojković Piksi, a legend of Serbian and former Yugoslav football, who scored two goals against Spain in a 2:1 victory in the round of 16 at the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Stojković also has coaching experience, and on the bench of Serbia he is welcomed as someone who can take the national team to Qatar after a disappointing defeat against Scotland and failure to qualify for the European Championship this year.

Stojković announced that he would play offensively, which was confirmed by the match with Ireland, although he then calculated with some important players, leaving Aleksandar Mitrović, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Filip Kostić, Darko Lazović on the bench... All these player are offensive cards with Luka Jović, Dušan Tadić and Dusan Vlahović. Most of them will play against Portugal from the first minute today, and the hosts' tactics isn't just to defend, but to score at least one goal because they are aware that without that, they can hardly expect a positive result.

- For many football analyst, Portugal is the strongest team in Europe, Portugal has a fantastic individual quality, and is current champion of Europe, it's team is a good combination of youth and experience players. Fernando Santos is one of the most experienced selectors in the world, he leads this team masterfully. But, don't think that all this will make us surrender. We are facing a great challenge, but we also have knowledge and quality, we can play very well match against such a strong team. Our good mood is a sign that we will be maximally ready. One of our characteristics is that we play attacking football, my players know that very well - said Stojković, who has practically no significant worries about the team, and the tactical formation will be 3-4-2-1.

Portugal also calculated a lot in the first game, Joao Felix and Bruno Fernandes didn't start against Azerbaijan and the victory was won quite hard, although Portugal enjoyed 67% possession against Azerbaijan in midweek, as well as recording 29 shots (14 on target).

Reigning European champions needed a Maxim Medvedev own goal to seal a 1:0 victory. Portugal have only lost one of their last 11 games in all competitions, picking up eight wins and two draws in the process. Before last match, having sealed big wins over Sweden (3:0), Andorra (7:0) and Croatia (3:2) in recent months.

Felix and Fernandes together with Ronaldo are expected to be in the starting line-up in Belgrade, but a small problem for coach Fernando Santos may be defense. Goalkeeper Rui Patricio will not play due to injury, experienced stopper Pepe will be absent, as well as left back Rafael Guerreiro. Lopes will on goal again, central back to be Rui Fonte, and left back Rui Mario, because he is more experienced than Duarte, with a lot of experience from Napoli.

- We are aware of the quality of the Serbian team and individually of Tadić, Mitrović, Milinković-Savić and others, not to mention. I believe in the self-confidence of my team, I believe that we will have possession of the ball and that we will also attack. I believe in a difficult match, but we came to Belgrade with a clear desire to win - said coach of Portugal, Fernando Santos.

This two sides met in the EURO qualifiers back in 2019. an Portugal claimed a 1:1 draw on home soil, before thrashing Serbia 4:2 away in Belgrade.

This is a match in which both national teams will enter with the strongest offensive forces and there will be no calculation. For Serbia would also have good one point, but they know that it's very difficult to achieve that with the result 0:0, and Stojković isn't the coach of that type of tactics and thinking. Therefore, 3+ in Belgrade seems like a good bet.

Possible starting 11:

Serbia: Rajković - Milenković, S. Mitrović, Pavlović - Lazović, Gudelj, Maksimović, Kostić - Tadić, Milenković Savić - A. Mitrović

Portugal: Lopes - Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Fonte, Rui Mario - Neves, Bruno Fernandes, Danilo Pereira, Bernardo Silva - Felix, Ronaldo

WIN Score: 2:2 Profit: +0.77
