Match date: 16/03/2021

A very important match will be played tonight in New York Stadium where struggling hosts Rotherham are expecting the in-from team of Watford. In this match I will back the visitors to get away with a win due to their recent form, but mostly due to the current situation at Rotherham.

The situation in Rotherham club is far from ideal. Due to Covid outbreak in the team, this will be their first match since March 3rd and they haven’t been training in last ten days. After such long period without using the grounds and not training properly will surely affect the players. Their first training after March 3rd was just yesterday and coach Warne is rightly very upset of this long break. In his interview yesterday he said that:

"There's nothing sinister going on here. We haven't thought 'it would be great to have 10 days off as a mini-break' - it is an absolute disaster.

They need to come in, they need to keep topping their skills up and they need to keep themselves in a physical shape.

They need to be footballers on a daily basis, so to suddenly not be able to use the training ground for 10 days is a disaster.

A lot of them live in apartments and don't have gardens. A lot of them haven't been in any fit state to walk down the stairs, let alone go for a run.

It is less than ideal but we have to try and attack these two games and see what we can get."

So as we can see the situation before facing one of the best teams in the league is far from ideal. Moreover they will miss due to injury Jamie Lindsay and Ogbene, while Wood, Mattock and Robertson will face a late fitness test to see if they are fit enough.

Quite the opposite is the situation at Watford. They have been in a great run lately wining seven of their last eight matches which has led them to the second place in the league. They are coming to this match after a great victory against Cardiff which was on a great run of its own. The win against Cardiff contributed to the first defeat of Cardiff under Mick McCarthy run which saw Cardiff going on an eleven matches without defeat registering seven wins.

Watford’s objective is to avoid the playoff places and finish in second place, but in order to do so they must win matches like this against struggling opponents. The battle for that second place will be tough till the end with Swansea and Brentford fighting also to win direct promotion.

For this match Troy Deeney, Christian Kabasele and Tom Cleverley remain sidelined, but for tonight’s match I don’t think their absences will be felt too much against struggling Rotherham.

?To sum up, I believe that backing Watford to register another win is the right choice having in mind the situation at Rotherham after the covid outbreak in their team.
