Newcastle - Crystal Palace

1X2 / Moneyline
Pick: Newcastle (0)
Odds: 2.11
Stake: 1

Match date: 02/02/2021

After nearly two months, finally Newcastle ended their winless run with a 2-0 victory over Everton and tonight will look to build on that win and take another positive result.

The win against Everton ended a run of six defeats across all competitions for Newcastle.  The poor form of Newcastle begun to raise some relegation concerns, but the win against Everton and the draw of Fulham and WBA gave them eight point difference from the relegation zone and I believe this will take off some of the tension from the team.

Positive news is also the comeback of Allan Saint-Maximin who could be in line for his first start since November. He has played last games from the bench, but tonight he is expected to start and this for sure will give Newcastle an advantage. Beside Saint-Maximin, Paul Dummett is also expected to start, while Jamaal Lascelles is expected to miss out this game due to the injury he suffered against Everton.

On the other hand Crystal Palace has only managed to take one point from their matches in January, but they faced in-form teams like City, Arsenal and West Ham and tonight they will try first to take a positive result and avoid the defeat.

I expect them to approach this match with the thought of taking at least a draw back home. For tonight match Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says several unnamed members of his squad face fitness tests after suffering injuries against Wolves. James Tomkins and Jeffrey Schlupp are among the confirmed absentees. Also James McCarthy and James McArthur are expected not to be ready.

To sum up, tonight I expect both teams to play a calculated football because for both teams is essential not to lose, thus I expect a tight low scoring game.

Nevertheless after the victory against Everton and with the return of Saint-Maximin and Dummett and the missing players of Palace, I think Newcastle has more chances to take the victory.
