Match date: 08/01/2022

Match not in risk of postponement, in spite Middlesborough adds four new positive cases to the 20 members among players and staff already infected that forced the team to postpone last Championship match.

Most part of these players returned available but not fully fit and only in light training so there will be a massive use of U23 youngsters and debut of just arrived midf. Connoly.

Trainer said: “We’ll potentially give two debuts on Saturday. There’s some of the Under-23s that will play, and there’s some more of the 23s that will make the bench up.

“Obviously, we don’t know now how the testing will go. There’s some of the Under-18s/23s on standby as well. I’m not going to go down there with three or four players – it’s important some of the young boys get a taste of what it’s like on a matchday with the senior team.

“They’ll be welcomed in by a fabulous group of pros, who had to go through that process when they were starting their careers.

“The big thing is the number in between. The eight or nine players who would have started at Sheffield United but weren’t available, a week on some of them will come through testing okay, some of them won’t.

“How Covid has affected them, some will be at different stages...."

Mansfield in great form with only one defeat and all wins in league since end of October and in FA Cup already defeated one league above Sunderland and Doncaster.

Hosts suffered a bit for covid, too, recently, but now all players returned healty and only absences is Gordon ( midf.6+1)
