Portugal - Taça de Portugal, finals

It's the Portuguese Cup finals and we have meeting between Braga and Benfica.

In just finished Portuguese league, these two teams have occupied the No. 4 and the No. 3 position respectively. So we have two of best teams in the country and I expect one good match where the edge must be on the side of the Lisbon's team, Benfica.

Firstly, this game takes place on Estadio Cidade de Coimbra. That being said, there isn't home field advantage for Braga, they are only official host while in reality this game is on neutral location.

Secondly, the form of these two opponents now at the end of the season was going in completely different directions. Benfica who had lot of problems during the season (injuries, Covid) seems that lately finally was in great rhythm, in red hot form and has won in even six of the final seven rounds in the league. The only time Benfica didn't win in this period, was when facing big rival Porto. That match has ended in a draw (1:1). It was a little bit late for Benfica to catch the first two placed teams but even finishing third was success given on the problems they have had earlier and given on the fact No. 3 position could still bring them the Champions League (would need to pass through qualifications).

Braga on the other side was completely the opposite. They have been great, at one moment looked even like real contender for direct Champions League Visa (2nd position), but at the end there was nothing about that. When it was the most important, Braga has suffered big decline in form, has won only once in their final six games, plus lost couple times during that period and has collected only 6 of possible 18 pts during that span. So at the end they had to accept 4th position and finishing even twelve points behind Benfica.

Particularly scoring goals was big issue for Braga late in the season. They were able to score only three goals overall in the last six games. That was completely opposite of Benfica who was scoring for fun and was averaging three scored per game in the last seven rounds in the league. Seferovic was particularly hot but not just him, Benfica's attack in general is looking very powerful right now.

In the very last game (1:3 road win against solid Guimaraes), the head coach Jorge Jesus has decided to go with a mix squad. Obviously Benfica was thinking about this Cup finals and today it's expected the strongest possible starting line-up cause they have no major issue about its squad.

Braga on the other side is without wing Medeiros and centre-back David Carmo who are both injured while also left back Francisco Moura is expected to miss the game.

I expect from Benfica to take the job done in regular 90 minutes but will go with this less risky option: Benfica to lift the trophy. This bet include possible Extra Time and penalties.

LOST Score: 2:0 Profit: -1
