Auckland City - Hawke's Bay

Pick: AH +2,25 Hawke's
Odds: 1.6
Stake: 1

Match date: 29/11/2020
Current New Zealand champions Auckland City will host Hawke's Bay today as part of the 3rd round of new Championship. Auckland is set as a total favorite for bookmakers and Hawke as a total outsider, but we make a question if that is exactly the case.

Already the opening two rounds have shown that Auckland is not as strong as last season, they suffered a defeat against Hamilton 0:2 in the last round, while before that they barely beat Eastern Suburbs 1:0.
One of the main reasons is departure from the club of the top scorer Myer Bevan, a member of the New Zealand national team and authored 13 goals in the last Championship which was shortened due to the Covid 19 epidemic.
He is a player who will be very difficult to replace, and for today's game coach Jose Figueira will most likely not be able to count on his two key attackers. Emiliano Tade and Logan Rogerson haven’t trained this week and can't play this match.

Only one goal scored in two games already speaks of efficiency problems for Auckland, and although Hawke's Bay is still a weaker team, the guests will not easily surrender. Hawke’s Bay bring a few new players in transfer window and would like to avoid a fight to stay in the league (he was penultimate last season). Hawke practically playing with the league’s top three clubs in the first three rounds. He lost 0:3 against Hamilton, but put up a great resistance to runner-up Wellington, leading at halftime, but conceding two goals in the final and losing 1:2 in last round.
Still, a good game is an encouragement to come to Auckland and the guests will have a great motive to prove themselves against a club with which they have very bad statistics.
Hawke's Bay United have never beaten Auckland City FC at his Kiwitea Street stadium in 16 years of trying. They have 0 won, 4 draws and lost 15 times. Also this game between Auckland City and Hawke's Bay United is the 39th since the 2004/2005 season. Auckland have recorded 28 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats.

Still, guests believe it’s just the past, they now have a very solid team, and trying to bet that Hawke not to lose by more than two points seems realistic in a situation like this, when Auckland are still far from the desired form."

I waited until the last moment when the line-up of Auckland will be announced, Tade and Rogerson don't play, and odd 1.60 was on the Asian handicap AH +2.50. If you can, let the administrator correct my mistake.

I’m sorry that I didn’t write before this pick, but information whether Auckland’s two main strikers will play had great importance. Without them, it was an equal match in which Auckland won with much luck. But in the next games, Auckland's stumbles should be hunted, because they are not nearly as good as last season.
